Changing a Customer in a Quote or Sales Order

You can’t technically switch out the customers in an order. We do this to prevent data inconsistency issues, including issues with customer credit, etc. In order to change customers but keep order details the same, you'll have to clone the Quote or Sales Order. 

  1. To clone a Quote or Sales Order, go into the order details page, click on (1) Quick Actions, and select (2) Clone Sales Order or Clone Quote
  2. In the cloned order, select the correct customer from the dropdown list, or type out the customer name.
  3. Fill in all relevant information such as contact details, ‘Bill to’ and ‘Ship to’ sections.
  4. You’ll also need to correct the Shipments in the order. Click on (1) ⁝ and (2) Edit.
  5. Once you’ve corrected the shipments, click on Save.
  6. If everything looks good, click on Create to publish the Quote or Sales Order.
  7. You can delete the previous order that contains the wrong customer. In the Quote or Sales Order details page, select (1) Quick Actions, and (2) Void Sales Order or Void Quote.
  8. Click on Remove to confirm you’d like to delete the order.
